This biscuit with an orange blossom flavour is part of the gastronomic tradition of the city of Marseilles. Our navettes are hand-made according to a millenium-old recipe… 600g of one of tante Edith's generous sweet delights…
The navette is a biscuit in the shape of a small boat 7 or 8cm-long.
Tante Edith has decided to innovate by proposing a very huge Navette of about 600g, 30cm long...
A legend says that this small boat was the one which brought the "Saintes Maries" (Marie-Madeleine, Marie-Salomé, Marthe et Saint-Lazare) from the Holy land to the coast of Provence one february 2 over 2000 years ago.
These navette are made by a master confectioner, a specialist of Provençal recipes, whose workshop is still in the heart of Marseilles. They are made without chemical products nor GMO. They are even cut by hand and baked in a traditional oven. Needless to say that their taste and texture are perfect: not too hard nor too soft. These exquisite navettes are ideal for breakfast, tea, as a dessert or just to nibble during the day.
A small piece of advice: navettes can be kept for a long time in an air-tight tin. You then just have to heat them before eating. They will regain all their mellowness and their taste will be perfect.
